My practice draws on extensive histories of painting reconfigured by ecological thinking. I have long been driven to make work reflecting contemporary society’s relationship with the natural world. Recently I am more open to seeing my practice as a way of coping with the state of this relationship, to healing it, rather than as a commentary or critique. I am also interested in exploring crossovers in knowledge between Neuroscience, Quantum Physics, Symbiosis and how understanding the flexibility of these systems could assist in democratising the economy toward Earth Justice as well as general human, plant and animal well being.

I approach painting as a boundary shattering examination of interconnectivity. My works address the audience without the use of shock, diminishing notions of otherness. This approach seen in relation to mass culture I feel should be the focus of the current day avant-garde. The practice of art making that champions joy, healing and love is revolutionary.

For many years I was making paintings of nature reclaiming human altered sites and in the past two years portraits of animals and plants. Recently I have been creating paintings with scenes drawn from historical paintings such as those by Caspar David Friedrich and other Romanticists and Vincent Van Gogh. In these paintings artists and scientists are depicted engaging with and pondering over nature. Looking at the historical examination of nature in art in relation to my own woven and interlaced painting technique has also lead me to study tapestries and in particular animals and plants depicted in medieval tapestries.
